China Beijing Environment Exchange supports Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2011

Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2011 is slated April 14th to 16th, 2011. To celebrate Boao Forum for Asia’s ten-year anniversary and to promote low carbon sustainable development, while raising public awareness to tackle climate change issues with a positive impact to China’s impoverished region’s poverty alleviation, the Boao secretariat has decided that China’s first emissions trading platform-China Beijing Environment Exchange is to become the event’s exclusive “carbon neutral” service provider for Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2011. The Boao secretariat will offset all the carbon emissions for this year’s conference through the purchase of China’s first voluntary emissions reduction project developed under the country’s first self-initiated voluntary emissions reduction standard- the “Panda Standard”. The project is a Yunnan based “XiShuangBanNa” bamboo forestry project, the carbon sink that was purchased will be used for the offset of 2011 Boao annual conference emissions.

As it has been widely recognized, Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2011 is an internationally renowned non-governmental, non-profit organization. The event has become a top-level platform for dialogue among Asian and other national governments, commercial entities and academia to seek constructive ideas and exchanges on significant international affairs. Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2011 will stimulate Asian regional economic zones to integrate further and achieve its sustainable development goals.
To guarantee a highly credible carbon offset service for Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2011, as it is agreed and approached by the Boao Secretariat, China Beijing Environment Exchange has strictly selected three partners to assist with the carbon neutral service to Boao: First Climate, Yunnan Mengxiang Bamboo Industry Co.Ltd and China Qualification Certification Center.

China Beijing Environment Exchange has chosen European’s leading carbon asset management firm - First Climate to offer consultancy to the carbon offset involved in this partnership. First Climate has over 10-year of rich experiences with highly professional teams all over four continents. It is one of a few global clean energy consultancies that offer a comprehensive, one-stop shop services.  

Yunnan Mengxiang Bamboo Industry co.ltd is the first developer to China’s first voluntary emissions reduction project that has also generated positive poverty alleviation impact. It is developed by China’s first voluntary emissions reduction standard- the Panda Standard. The project is a key element to the holistic economic and commercial cooperation and dialogue that was discussed and confirmed during President Hu Jintao’s visit to France in Nov, 2010, this was one of the projects signed during the presidential visit. It is highly deemed by both governments and have received great Sino-France governmental support. Agence Fran?aise de Développement (AFD) and French Global Environmental Facility (FGEF) are to financing the two projects, The Administrative Center for China's Agenda 21 under Ministry of Science and Technology is to provide technical support.

China Beijing Environment Exchange has chosen a United Nations’ DOE in China - China Qualification Certification Center (CQC) to offer a one-stop shop service to the MRV for the conference. The service includes carbon footprint monitoring, reporting of carbon emissions management system, and verification, etc.

China Beijing Environment Exchange will grant Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2011 with “Carbon Neutral Certificate”. On the side we will also host a press conference in lieu with the Forum’s press release.
